Double walled glass mugs were the closest I could get to the same experience, but they just don’t keep the liquid at the temperature I prefer. I truly truly love mine and couldn’t live without it at this point. Again, I’ve had no issues if I wash mine, let it dry upside-down for about 30 minutes, and then throw it on the charger. As for the charging issues, it says in the instructions not to charge if there’s any moisture present as it will damage the charging coaster. It also has a max temperature setting of 145℉, so unless those complaining aren’t doing something right they must have mouths of steel. This mug is designed to KEEP hot coffee hot, not warm it up. I don’t know how people complain about it not getting hot enough. I no longer have my coffee going cold on me. I actually enjoy mine so much that I bought a second to have at home while I keep my original at work. It’s made of the same stuff as standard mugs so as long as you take care of the finish and don’t use any metal utensils with it, it’ll totally be fine. I have one of these and mind you I’ve only had mine since Christmas of 2021 (so it’s been 4 months) there’s no signs of the inside “flaking” away. coffee, costco, ember, embermug, smartmug Post navigation. Please feel free to chime in if you own one. I feel a traditional high end mug will work better in the end. It seems like it’s more hassle than it’s worth. I just don’t see how this can last more than a year or 2 & then your stuck buying a new one. This is enough for me to not purchase this item. The biggest complaints are not hot enough, won’t charge, stopped working after so many months & inside is flaking away. Even though the reviews are decent, I knew exactly what all the bad reviews would say.
So I’m not sure I would ever buy a product like this.

I had never heard of these smart mugs until recently. Costco sells this Ember Mug 2 for $99.99.
